Getting Started

Several steps are required to begin animal work at KU.  The following checklist is provided to ensure you have completed all necessary procedures.

ACU Orientation
ACU orientation is now available online through the AALAS Learning Library.  Effective immediately, the ACU will discontinue face-to-face orientation delivery.  To access the Learning Library, contact IACUC personnel at iacuc@ku.edu or 4-8841.  A 7 question quiz must be completed at the conclusion of the module to certify completion and information mastery.

American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) Learning Library
The AALAS Learning Library provides online training essential for personnel working in animals in a research or education setting.  To access the Learning Library and for a list of required courses, contact IACUC personnel at iacuc@ku.edu or 785-864-8841.

Occupational Health Program Enrollment
To complete the online Health Assessment, visit the website.  Login with a KU id and password is required.  The Health Assessment form is best accessed with the web browser Mozilla Firefox.  For assistance, contact IACUC personnel at iacuc@ku.edu or 785-864-8841.

IACUC Approved Animal Use Statement
All animal work, including a list of ALL personnel performing animal procedures, MUST be described in an IACUC approved Animal Use Statement.  A Personnel Modification Form should be used to add personnel to an existing Animal Use Statement.  For assistance, contact IACUC personnel at iacuc@ku.edu or 785-864-8841.
