animalsThe ACU is comprised of over 33,000 ft2 of dedicated animal and procedure space dispersed in nine buildings across the Lawrence campus. Housing facilities are available for common laboratory animals, including but not limited to rodents, rabbits, fish, reptiles, and amphibians. Specialized facilities, including a modified rodent barrier and surgical, ABSL-2, and necropsy suites are available.

KU-Lawrence maintains an Assurance (A3339-01) with the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare and adheres to standards prescribed in the PHS Policy and the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals for all activities involving laboratory animals. Additionally, KU-Lawrence is a USDA registered facility (48-R-0002) and complies with provisions of the Animal Welfare Act and Regulations for all activities involving regulated species.
